Worldwide Breast Cancer creatively used 12 lemons to show different signs and symptoms that seem to be overlooked because they were unnoticeable at first. The #KnowYourLemons campaign acquired praises all over the world and inspired men and women to be aware of the changes happening to their breasts.
- WeAccept – Airbnb
Airbnb is known as one of the most reliable companies for ideal accommodations anywhere in the world, and in the recently held Super Bowl 2017, it released a powerful message about the importance of embracing each other’s differences. The #WeAccept commercial is an eye-opener as it showed that regardless of religion, race, and belief, everyone deserves to live and be accepted in this world.
- Social Issues – Heineken
This 4-minute campaign of Heineken tackled social issues in an unlikely manner. Different people with opposing beliefs were teamed up to watch a video of their interviews and stand on a certain issue. They can choose either to walk away or to sit and talk about it, –while drinking Heineken. It was released last April 2017 and its message totally hit the mark.
- Salt Bae – Nusret Gokce
Does Nusret Gökçe ring a bell? Actually, he’s the ever famous butcher and restaurant owner from Istanbul a.k.a. Salt Bae. While others were raising awareness on different causes, Salt Bae promoted his business on social media through drool-worthy videos of steak. His signature move was to cut the steak smoothly and finish by drizzling salt on top of it. Up to this date, his restaurant continuously attracts customers and his online followers already reached 9.4 million.
- Burning Store – Burger King
Remember the viral meme of a burning store of Burger King? That wasn’t a drill. It was an actual photo of a Burger King store on fire with firefighters who responded to the scene. The agency behind it simply put a striking headline ‘Flame-grilled since 1954’. Popular names in the advertising industry called this campaign as the perfect print ad for the digital age. In addition to its success, the ‘Burning Store’ was awarded as Cannes Grand Prix in Print. Wow!

Drop everything now because Domino’s Pizza let couples receive pizzas as gift on their wedding day. Who would not love that? Instead of the traditional cutting of the cake, they were able to slice their favorite food together. ‘Wedding Registry’ campaign created an online buzz and thanks to this witty idea from Domino’s Pizza, there’s another reason to get married aside from love.
- Earth – Shot on iPhone – Apple
This brilliant campaign from Apple expressed love for ‘Mother Earth’. Stunning shots of forests, icebergs, the oceans, and mountains from regular iPhone users were combined to produce a one-minute ad, while promoting the smartphone’s camera. More than that, famous astronomer Carl Sagan made it more meaningful through his voiceover: “Like it or not, for the moment, the earth is where we make our stand. It underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another and to preserve and cherish the only home we’ve ever known.”

‘Last Days’ deserves a big clap for reminding everyone to live their lives to the fullest. It showed a disastrous end of the world, but the people still managed to dance and of course, drink Jose Cuervo. Credits also to the song of Elvis Presley ‘It’s now or never’ for setting the mood right.

Aside from unveiling a pro-hijab outfit, legendary sports giant Nike released the most inspiring campaign for Arab women entitled ‘What will they say about you?’. It celebrated 5 athletic women and a female singer who chose to pursue their goals amidst odds and struggles that they faced in their own country. Netizens were grateful and all praises for this campaign as it empowered women to beat the norm and chase their ultimate dreams. Good job, Nike!
